During the first two months, we focused on setting up the classroom environment for student success and developing instructional plans to increase student outcomes. Last month our focus moved to the Facilitation of Social Skills and Behavior Management and during December, the focus will shift slightly to emphasize Embedding Instruction of Social Skills Throughout the Day.
The use of evidence-based practices when arranging the classroom supports students’ understanding of behavioral expectations. Likewise, intentional instruction in social skills is a proactive method of addressing potentially challenging behavioral situations.
Our Pre-K Contacts’ Conference this year will focus on social-emotional development. Please look at the links under this month’s topic to begin your exploration and learning in this area. If you would like to explore any of the information in more depth, please be sure to contact your TATS Regional Facilitator.
Please return at the beginning of each month to view our new topic. We hope you visit even more frequently and familiarize yourself with all of the resources we have available to support your district plan to increase child outcomes for young children with disabilities.
The TATS Professional Development series includes multiple resources in the Administrators’ Observation Guide for Evidence-based Practices and the corresponding “Rock Your Classroom” guide for teachers. The links are below:
