Building Bridges: Early Literacy & Social Emotional Competence was a free summer institute for PreK and kindergarten teachers in the north central region of the state. It was held on June 8th, 2007 at the North Florida Community College in Madison, Florida. Jack Hartmann, a nationally recognized author, singer, and songwriter was our keynote speaker. The eighty-seven participants then chose from 4-5 presentations during 3 breakout sessions throughout the day. Sessions focused on the components of a successful early literacy program and research-based strategies for reducing the occurrence of problem behaviors and helping children learn social skills and ways of interacting with others that have long term impacts on success in and out of school.
Great ideas, teaching strategies and resources for Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers!
